Why Tofu? (Tofu Chop Suey Recipe Healthy)
The specialty of tofu is that it is made from plants, due to which it is a boon for those who do not eat meat, it also contains abundant amount of protein which is very important for strengthening our body. , plus it’s low in fat and calories, meaning you can enjoy delicious dishes like chop suey without worrying about it being unhealthy.
ingredient you’ll need:
- For the Tofu:
- 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- Pinch of black pepper
- For the Vegetables:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup snow peas, trimmed
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- Pinch of garlic powder
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- To Serve:
- Cooked brown rice or noodles
Instructions:
1. Preparing Tofu:
- First of all open the packaging of tofu.
- Now place the tofu on a clean cloth and place it on a flat surface.
- Now try to extract as much moisture as possible from the tofu.
- And after the moisture gets removed properly, cut the tofu into cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the tofu cubes with 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and a pinch of black pepper.
2. Cooking Tofu:
- Heat a large pan over medium heat
- Add oil to the pan (add only a small amount of oil)
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the tofu cubes to the pan.
- And fry them for about 3 to 5 minutes until they become crunchy (turning them continuously for 3 to 5 minutes)
- Take the tofu out of the pan and place on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
3. Roasting vegetables:
- Now add oil to the pan again.
- After this, add chopped onion and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until it becomes soft.
- After this, add minced garlic to it and eat it for about 1 minute.
- If you want, you can add capsicum, broccoli, snow peas and mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are slightly soft but still crunchy.
4. Making the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine vegetable broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, brown sugar, ginger, garlic powder, and a pinch of red chili flakes if you want a little heat (spicy).
5. Mixing and Serving:
- Now pour the sauce into the pan along with the cooked vegetables to mix both.
- Cook for at least 2 minutes. So that it can thicken a little.
- Add the cooked tofu back to the pan and mix everything together.
- Now you can eat it to your heart’s content.
- Serve your tofu stir-fry immediately with cooked brown rice or noodles.

Additional Tips for Delicious Stir-Fry:
- If you want, you can also experiment with different vegetables like carrots, snap peas, or baby corn to enhance the taste.
